Executive of the Year Honoree
Marc Malnati is the owner of Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria, the nationally recognized Chicago restaurant chain. Mr. Malnati exemplifies an executive who successfully uses public relations to promote his business and Chicago pizza.
In recent months, he has been particularly effective in earning media coverage for Chicago pizza by challenging television personality Jon Stewart, who criticized Chicago-style deep dish pizza. Mr. Malnati also garnered extensive coverage for his company’s purchase of the iconic Ina’s restaurant in the West Loop after Ina announced her intention to close the popular breakfast spot, and sell the property.
Additionally, Mr. Malnati’s company plays an active role in corporate social responsibility (CSR). In the past 10 years, the Lou Malnati’s Cancer Research Fund raised more than $3 million to benefit organizations dedicated to finding a cure for cancer. In 2013, Lou Malnati’s was named one of the top places to work by Chicago Tribune for the fourth year in a row. They were also named among the top 150 best places to work by Workplace Dynamics.
Mr. Malnati holds a bachelor’s in management from Indiana University Bloomington.
