President’s Message: 2011 PRSA Chicago Kickoff

Welcome to 2011! As we put oil spills, earthquakes and momma grizzlies behind us, we look ahead to better economic times and increasing opportunities for PR professionals.

Want to know what you’ll get out of PRSA Chicago this year? Read on.

Events

In 2011, the structure of monthly luncheons will evolve. From panel discussions and keynote speeches to the occasional intimate fireside chat-style conversation, if you’re tired of the same old thing, look to PRSA Chicago for fresh, high-level content. As usual, luncheons will take place the third Tuesday of most months at Maggiano’s.

PRSA Chicago is excited to introduce monthly networking receptions in 2011. These informal events, which will cost less than $15 each and take place at various restaurants around the city, will provide you with the opportunity to mix and mingle with others in the PR profession – from senior executives to junior professionals. Build your personal brand, make friends in the industry and experience Chicago’s great restaurant scene by attending these easy and fun cocktail parties.

Communication

Thanks to the stellar communications committee, making connections through PRSA just got a lot easier. If you haven’t been to www.prsachicago.com lately, you must visit. You will find completely new content and user-friendly navigation.

Sponsorship

Last year, the sponsorship team led by Debbie Harvey, SVP at Golin Harris and PRSA Chicago president-elect, revamped PRSA Chicago’s sponsorship program to provide greater benefits to companies that support PRSA and more opportunities for members to do business with those companies. From access to junior talent pools through YPN to exposure to senior leaders at the Skyline Awards Gala, PRSA Chicago is making valuable connections for practitioners, vendors and corporations alike.

Long story not so short, 2011 is going to be a great year. You will get the most out of your PRSA Chicago membership when you participate. So, participate! And see your horizons expand before your eyes.
